Organizing Authority
1. RULES
The Regatta will be governed by the Racing
Rules of Sailing (RRS), the respective one design rules for each class
participating, this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.
2. ENTRIES
This series is open to any

3. SCHEDULE OF RACES
The first warning
gun will be at 1200 hours.
A minimum of one
and a maximum of three races will constitute the event.
4. RACING AREA
Races will be
held in between the area south of Marblehead Rock and Tinker’s Gong.
5. MARKS
The marks of the course will be orange tetrahedrons. Green tetrahedrons will be used for the start and finish marks.
6. THE COURSES
Courses will be
the same as those diagramed in the MRA General Sailing Instructions.
7. THE START
7.1
Races will be started using RRS 26.
7.2
The starting line shall be between a staff from which a flag is displayed on
the race committee signal boat and a nearby mark.
8. CHANGE OF COURSE AFTER THE START
A change of
course after the start will be signaled before the leading boat has begun the
new leg, although the new mark may not then be in position. Any mark to be
rounded after rounding the new mark may be relocated to maintain the original
course configuration.
9. THE FINISH
The finishing
line will be between a staff from which a flag is displayed on a race committee
boat and a nearby mark.
10. TIME LIMITS
10.1
The time limit for each race will be 1 hour.
10.2 Boats failing to finish within 15 minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes will be scored Did Not Finish. This changes rules 35 and A4.1.
11. PROTESTS
Protests shall be written on forms available at the Eastern Yacht Club and delivered there within one hour after the Race Committee signal boat has docked. All protest hearings will be conducted at Eastern Yacht Club. The schedule of Protest hearings will be posted on the Notice Board near the Eastern Yacht Club Front Desk (this constitutes notice as required by RRS 63.2).
12. SCORING
12.1 A boat's series score shall be her total score for all races in this series. There will be no throw outs. (This changes RRS A2)
13. RADIO
COMMUNICATIONS AND EMERGENCY CONDITIONS
13.1 The Race Committee will monitor VHF Channel 72 from the time of leaving the dock to the time of returning to the dock.
13.2 Emergency conditions should be reported directly to the Race Committee. Boats in need of assistance can call the Marblehead Harbor Master on VHF Channel 16. The Corinthian Dock Master will monitor Channel 9.
13.3 Race Committee broadcasts concerning its intentions, the course to be sailed, starting times, course changes, etc. are a courtesy only. Failure of the Race Committee to make a broadcast, the timing of the broadcast, or the failure of a boat to hear a broadcast shall not be grounds for redress under RRS 6.2 (a).
14. PRIZES
Prize giving will take place at the
Eastern Yacht Club as soon as possible after racing.
