2014 MRA Registration Now Open!

Dear MRA members,
After such a long siege armed with snow shovels, it is finally time to take the boat covers off and get ready for the 2014 racing season! Those hardy souls that are already racing Sonar’s at BYC or waiting for Lasers racing at EYC to begin mid April, stay warm and sail fast. For those who prefer not to sail in a dry suits or down jackets, the MRA season begins May 24 & 25, Saturday and Sunday of the Memorial Day weekend.
2014 MRA Registration is now open! Please click here to complete registration by May 5th, 2014. After May 5th, a $75 late fee applies. The complete 2014 MRA racing schedule can be found on the MRA website, www.mheadrace.org.
After the many substantive changes made last year, due to the new Racing Rules, there are relatively few alterations to the basic SIs this year. One new addition is on checking in at the beginning of each race day on your line, we need you to announce the sail number and the souls on board to the signal boat. The reason for souls on board is in case of emergency situations we know the exact number of racers to get out of the water and into shore safely. Remember, MRA strongly encourages everyone to read the 2014 MRA NORSIs over carefully to clearly understand how races in Marblehead will be conducted.
MRA will continue to use Regattaman for registration and scoring, as was done last year. Remember that one goal for using this online scoring system is that results will be posted after the day’s racing, pending a protest.All registrations will be done online, to streamline the process for all racing lines. Over the winter, the MRA Board approved a $10.00 fee increase for the 2014 annual MRA membership, to keep up with expenses. Please remember that the MRA membership includes entry for the 125th anniversary of Marblehead Race Week (NOOD) this summer.
Again, both racing lines will have a first gun at 12:30pm, and the Midway Line, as often as possible, will be located inside Halfway Rock.
