2017-2020 US SAILING Racing Rules and Tactics Seminar

The Racing Rules of Sailing change every four years.

The Eastern Yacht Club is hosting a seminar on the new racing rules, as well as the old, related tactics and their underlying principles. You will learn your rights and obligations in every situation and learn how to resolve conflicts.  Rules pertaining to situations around the race course will be explained.  You will learn to recognize situations and know which rules apply.  The seminar will also teach you how to position your boat to tactical advantage and avoid positions that leave you vulnerable.  You will learn the critical difference between right-of-way and control.

April 8, 2017, 9:30 to 4:00, at the Eastern Yacht Club

The seminar is taught by the BEST instructor in North America, Dave Perry.  He is the author of the book, Understanding the Racing Rules.

Included with the Seminar:

  • A variety of interactive exercises, quizzes and rules scenarios, as well as rules and tactics scenarios of racing video
  • The Rules and Tactics Seminar Workbook, by Dave Perry and Bill Gladstone
  • A chili lunch (including a vegetarian chili option)
  • Access to the EYC bar during lunch and after the seminar

This is a 7+ hour Adult Seminar

Please be advised that this is an all-day intensive seminar.  It is not appropriate for children, but high school and college-age sailors are welcome.  There are a limited number of $25 junior tickets (under age 21) available.

Cost: $105, including lunch
