MRA Spring One Design Regatta

Special Addendum to the MRA Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions

1.RULES

The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing.

 

2.ENTRIES

The regatta is open to all classes eligible to compete in the MRA Season Championship.

 

3.NOTICES TO COMPETITORS

Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board, located in the Sailing Center at the Eastern Yacht Club and, if possible, on the MRA website.

 

4.CHANGES TO THE SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted before 0800 hours on the day it will take effect, except that any change to the schedule of races will be posted by 1800 hours on the day before it will take effect, as well as on the Eastern Yacht Club website and the MRA website. This changes MRA Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions 4.

 

5.SIGNALS MADE ASHORE

Signals made ashore will be displayed at the Casey Flag Pole, located at the Eastern Yacht Club. When AP is displayed ashore “one minute” is replaced with “not less than 60 minutes” in race signal AP.

 

6.SCHEDULE AND CLASS FLAGS

The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 1230 hours. Class flags will be the class insignia. The Race Committee will announce the order of starts at least 5 minutes before the first warning signal.

 

7.RACING AREA

The racing area will be approximately 1 NM offshore of Marblehead Rock.


8.MARKS

8.1 All original turning marks will be orange tetrahedrons. Offset marks, when present, will be the same color as Mark 1.  

8.2 A change mark will be pink, and a subsequent change mark will be orange.

8.3 A green flag flown no later than five minutes before the start means “Mark 1 for the class about to start will be a green tetrahedron. This applies to each rounding of Mark 1 by this class.” Change marks for this course will be green, with a black band.

A subsequent change mark with be unbanded.

 

12.TIME LIMIT

The time limit for each race will be two hours for the first boat to finish. Boats failing to finish within 15 minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes will be scored DNF without a hearing. This changes Rules 35, 63.1, and paragraph 15 in the MRA NRSI.

 

13.PROTESTS

The protest time limit is 60 minutes after the Race Committee signal boat docks. Protest forms are available in the Sailing Center and should be returned to the Race Committee Office in the Sailing Center.

 

14.SCORING

If at least five (5) races are completed, each boat’s worst score will be excluded from her series score. Three (3) races constitutes a regatta.

 

15.RADIO COMMUNICATION

The Race Committee may use VHF Channel 78 for courtesy broadcasts. Courtesy broadcasts are not subject to redress. This changes Rule 62.1(a).

 

16.PRIZES

Day prizes will be awarded to boats finishing first in each race for each class in which two(2) or more boats start. Day prizes may be claimed at the Front Desk of the Eastern Yacht Club. Regatta prizes will be awarded at the end of the season Awards Party.
