SAILORS HELPING SAILORS

Please join the Board of the New England Sailing Foundation and fellow sailors at the Gerry No.5, 210 Beacon St, Marblehead on November 8, 2011 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm to learn more about how you can support the sport of sailing.

Hear first hand from future Olympian Clayton Johnson, Olympic Gold Medalist Maureen McKinnon- Tucker and other notable sailors about what it takes to reach the pinnacle of our sport.

There will be a cash bar and a donation accepted in lieu of admittance fee.

The New England Sailing Foundation, formerly the Eastern Sailing Foundation, was incorporated late in 2009 and received its IRS approval as a 501(c) (3) charitable organization on September 24, 2010. Currently its Board is comprised of members from three Marblehead yacht clubs, those being the Boston, the Corinthian and the Eastern.

The Foundation's mission is to promote local, national and international amateur sailing and competition by supporting all aspects of sailing such as education, training and Olympic campaigns.

The Foundation will carry out its mission by providing support, in the form of eligible grants, to qualifying organizations, programs and individuals that fit the Foundation's mission.

The support provided by the Foundation will help to insure a strong and competitive environment for sailing in our area, especially as it relates to those sailors involved in Olympic campaigns.

A supportive environment is fundamental to attracting and retaining talent in our area as over the past years, without this type of support, a number of leading sailors have migrated to other parts of the United States where there are active sailing foundations.

Additional questions may be addressed directly to Alan McKinnon, President and Treasurer of the New England Sailing Foundation at 617-791-1585.
