Pleon Yacht Club To Host Junior Sailing Information Session Dec. 14
Marblehead, Mass. (November 30, 2010) -- The Pleon Yacht Club will host an information session for families (bring your children) interested in its summer sailing programs on Tuesday, December 14, 7:00PM at the Boston Yacht Club, 1 Front Street, Marblehead.
Pleon's summer programs are open to all children who have completed 3rd grade or higher. No previous sailing experience or affiliation with other clubs is required. There will be a variety of four- and eight-week program offerings, including learn-to-sail, racing, and adventure options. Pleon will also bring back its successful two-week, Intro-To-Beginner course for 8 year olds. The course is offered at the end of the summer as a low-key way to introduce potential new Pleon members to the club and its offerings.
During the information session on the 14th, Pleon Program director Erin Pierce and Pleon Commodore Kyle Heffrin will give a short presentation on the programs followed by a question-and-answer session. Program Committee members, other club officers, current sailors and junior instructors will also be on hand to answer questions.
The purpose of Pleon Yacht Club of Marblehead, one of the oldest junior yacht clubs in the country, is to involve as many young people as possible in the sport of sailing in a fun, educational atmosphere.
Online registration for Pleon summer programs opens February 28 at www.pleon.org. Pleon's Summer 2011 brochure will be available on the Pleon web site in early February.
