2020 Marblehead Racing Association Season Update #2
May 1, 2020

Dear MRA Members.

To keep MRA members informed here is the latest MRA update. Following is a summary of the recent announcements from various agencies in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

On April 27, 2020, the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs office of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts released their guidelines on boating ('Boating and various other marine and inland waterway related activities'). The Marblehead Harbor Master indicated that these rules will be enforced until they are lifted. On April 28, 2020, the Governor of Massachusetts extended the stay at home order until May 18, 2020.

Based on this information the MRA believes it is necessary to cancel the MRA Spring Series on May 23 and 24 and the MRA Series 1 Day 1 on May 30. It is MRA's understanding that other races scheduled by the respective yacht clubs in May are also cancelled.

MRA online registration and the Sailing Instructions are postponed until the MRA can determine when racing can effectively start.

As the circumstances change, the MRA Board will adjust and communicate to the MRA community any appropriate amendments to the sailing season calendar.

Each of the MRA yacht clubs (BYC, CYC, EYC) will manage requirements of social distancing in order to ensure the safety of all participants (sailors, dock staff and race committee personnel).

Stay well and stay safe. We look forward to seeing everyone on the water in the not too distant future.

Regards,

Mark E. Toso
Chairman, Marblehead Racing Association
