NOTICE OF RACE (NoR)
The notation ‘[NP]' in a rule means that a boat may not protest another boat for breaking that rule. This changes RRS 60.1(a).
1 RULES
1.1The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing ('RRS').
1.2 [NP] Federal, state, and local rules and guidelines regarding COVID-19 guidance, available at https://theclubspot.com/regatta/6P8WaTFda8, will apply.
1.3 Where rule 20 applies, a boat may indicate her need for room to tack or her response by hail, hand signals or VHF radio.
2 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 The sailing instructions will be available at the same time as this Notice of Race at https://theclubspot.com/regatta/6P8WaTFda8.
3 COMMUNICATION
3.1The online official notice board is located at https://theclubspot.com/regatta/6P8WaTFda8.
3.2 [DP] All boats shall carry a VHF radio capable of communicating on VHF Channels 78 and 71.
3.3 On the water, the race committee will make courtesy broadcasts to competitors on VHF radio. The specific channels will be stated in the Sailing Instructions.
3.4 [DP] From the first warning signal until the end of the last race of the day, except in an emergency, a boat shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.
4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1The event is open to all boats of the J105, IOD, Etchells, J70, J24, Viper 640, Rhodes 19, and Town Class fleets. Other fleets may be added at the discretion of the Organizing Authority (MRA).
4.2 Unregistered boats will be scored DNC without a hearing. This changes RRS 63.1 and A5.
4.3 RRS A 2.2 is deleted.
4.4 Boats may enter the event by registering online at https://theclubspot.com/register/regatta/6P8WaTFda8/class.
4.5 To be considered an entry in the event, a boat shall complete registration requirements and pay all fees.
5 FEES
5.1 Entry fees are as follows: Season Pass: $345 (unless a member of BYC, CYC, or EYC, in which case $265), One Day Pass: $30

6.3 Number of races: it is the intention of the race committee to run as many races as practicable.
6.4 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race of each day is 1230, except for the Town Class, whose first warning is no earlier than 1330.
6.5 Flag ‘A' displayed with no sound signal while boats are finishing, means ‘no more racing today'.
7 VENUE
7.1 NoR Addendum A shows the location of the racing areas.
8 COURSES
8.1 NoR Addendum B will show the courses to be sailed.
8.2 The marks are as follows:
A) Start and finish marks will be green tetrahedrons
B) Rounding marks will be orange tetrahedrons for the South Line
C) Rounding marks will be yellow tetrahedrons for the North Line
9 PENALTY SYSTEM
9.1 RRS Appendix V, Alternative Penalties, will apply. Submit requests for alternative penalties, to mraprotests@mheadrace.org.
9.2For the Town Class only, Appendix V 1 is changed as follows: the final sentence is deleted.
10 SCORING
10.1 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
10.2 A boat's series score will be the total of her race scores, excluding her worst score if five or more races have been completed. One additional worse score will be excluded for each additional five races completed.
10.3 The MRA Season score will be the sum of a boat's scores in all the MRA series.
10.4 Rule A5.3 applies.
11 SAIL SUBSTITUTIONS
11.1 [DP] A boat may carry a sail number in contravention of her class rules, provided that the race committee has been informed of her sail identification during check in.
12 RISK STATEMENT
12.1 RRS 3 states: ‘The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.' By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia or other causes.
13 INSURANCE
13.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $300,000 per incident or the equivalent.
14 PRIZES
14.1 Prizes will be given as follows: daily First Place Glasses will be available at the Club running that line after racing. Season prizes will be given at the End of Season Awards Ceremony.
15 MEDIA
15.1 Competitors give absolute right and permission for any photograph and video footage taken of themselves or the boat they are sailing during the event, to be published in any media.
